Homemade CBD soup: the measured autumn recipe

Par ·

For a CBD soup that works, the hemp oil is stirred in off the heat, once the soup has been blended and has cooled slightly, with a drizzle of cream or olive oil to help it disperse. Allow 40 minutes of preparation for a vegetable velouté that lends itself well to precise dosing per bowl.

Homemade CBD soup: the measured autumn recipe

The ingredients for four bowls

  • 500 g of seasonal vegetables (pumpkin, carrot, leek depending on the time of year)
  • 1 onion, 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 litre of vegetable stock
  • 100 ml of single cream or coconut milk
  • CBD isolate or full-spectrum oil, dosed according to your habits
  • Salt, pepper, nutmeg

The recipe step by step

  1. Soften the sliced onion and garlic in a drizzle of olive oil.
  2. Add the vegetables cut into pieces, cover with stock and leave to simmer for 25 to 30 minutes.
  3. Blend the soup until you have a smooth velouté, then stir in the cream.
  4. Leave it to cool for a few minutes off the heat before adding the CBD oil, mixing well to distribute it evenly.
  5. Adjust the seasoning and serve warm, never boiling hot.

CBD degrades with prolonged heat: adding it right at the end of preparation, once the soup has cooled a little, preserves its compounds better than stirring it in during cooking.

Working out the dose per bowl

The EFSA recommends not exceeding roughly 2 mg of CBD a day for a 70 kg adult, on the current state of the data. Measure the total volume of soup you have, work out the total dose of CBD oil you want to put into it, then divide it by the number of bowls served. This method avoids one guest receiving a noticeably more concentrated portion than another when serving.

Why fat matters

CBD disperses poorly in a purely water-based liquid. Single cream, coconut milk or a drizzle of olive oil added at the end of the recipe act as a lipid carrier, which improves the even distribution of CBD through the soup and limits more concentrated patches at the bottom of the bowl.

Variations and storage

This base works with pumpkin in autumn, carrots all year round or a mix of root vegetables in winter. The soup keeps for two to three days in the fridge in an airtight container. If you freeze the base, add the CBD oil only when reheating and serving, never before freezing.

Frequently asked questions

Can the CBD oil be added at the start of cooking?

This is not recommended: prolonged cooking at a high temperature degrades part of the CBD. It is better to stir it in right at the end of preparation, off the heat.

How much soup makes a standard portion?

A standard bowl is roughly 250 to 300 ml. Adjust the dosing calculation to that volume if you are serving bowls of different sizes.

Is this recipe suitable for a light dinner before bed?

Yes, a soup remains easy to digest and can fit into a soothing evening ritual, ideally taken two hours before going to bed.

Can the CBD oil be replaced with flowers?

Yes, by infusing them beforehand in the cream or coconut milk at a low temperature, before stirring it into the blended soup.
