Tobacco and cannabis: what are the differences for health?

Tobacco and cannabis share one major feature, combustion, but differ profoundly in terms of dependence and mechanisms of action. Nicotine creates a rapid physical dependence, while THC acts on a different system of receptors with a different dependence profile.
