Pharmacology
Cannabinor, also designated PRS-211375, is a synthetic agonist selective for the cannabinoid CB2 receptor, present notably in the urothelium and sensory nerves of the bladder according to the 2010 study. The inhibition constants recorded are 9.0 nM at CB2 and 334 nM at CB1 (Han et al., 2013). A functional selectivity of 321-fold in favour of CB2 is reported (Gratzke et al., 2010). In rat bladder models, a daily dose of 3 mg/kg for 14 days reduced bladder weight and preserved its emptying capacity during partial urethral obstruction (Gratzke et al., 2011). ChEMBL classes the molecule at phase 2 of clinical trials, but no published human data was found in the sources consulted.

History
- Source
- Fully synthetic molecule, not recorded in hemp according to the reference data consulted. It combines a resorcinol nucleus bearing a 1,1-dimethylheptyl chain, a pinane-type bicyclic fragment carrying a ketone, and a fumaric acid half-ester. The 2011 urology study associates the molecule with Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals (Cincinnati).
Origin (research tool)
No known biosynthetic pathway: it is a chemically synthesised compound, with no known plant or animal origin.
Legal framework
- European Union
No harmonised control measure at European Union level was found in the sources consulted: where control exists, it falls under national regimes.
- France
Cannabinor is not named in any annex of the ANSM consolidated list of narcotics (updated 16 February 2026). The closest generic clause is the cyclohexylphenol clause, which covers cyclohexylphenols or derivatives of 2-(3-hydroxycyclohexyl)phenol, with a substituent at position 5 of the phenol ring. The 1,1-dimethylheptyl chain does occupy position 5, but the terpenic ring, which carries a carbon bridge, bears a ketone rather than a hydroxyl: on the wording of the clause, it therefore does not cover this structure, and no source consulted settles how the clause should be read. The other generic clauses examined (tetrahydrocannabinols, benzo[c]chromenes, indoles and indazoles) do not match its structure. The molecule is therefore unscheduled in France, which does not amount to an authorisation: its use falls within research.
