Pharmacology

EHP-102, known in the scientific literature as VCE-003.2, is an aminoquinone derived from cannabigerol (CBG), obtained by chemical modification of the hemp molecule. Described in 2016 by the team of Díaz-Alonso, it has only negligible affinity for the CB1 and CB2 receptors (predicted Ki above 40 µM) and acts through PPARγ, a nuclear receptor involved in controlling inflammation, with an IC50 of 1.2 µM in a competitive binding assay. In mice, models of Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and synucleinopathy have been used to assess neuroprotective effects. The data are exclusively preclinical: no clinical trial is published in the sources consulted.

Key sources.

History

Source
Semi-synthetic derivative of cannabigerol (CBG), the non-psychotropic hemp phytocannabinoid, itself chemically modified to obtain the molecule. No natural occurrence is reported in the sources consulted.

Route of preparation (chemical process)

No biosynthetic pathway: EHP-102 is not produced by any living organism. It derives from chemical synthesis, by oxidation of the cannabigerol ring to a quinone, then introduction of a nitrogen function. Only the class of transformation is described here.
