What is the best CBD? A guide to suit your needs

Par ·

There is no "best CBD" in absolute terms: the most suitable format depends on the intended use, the frequency of use and the consumer's experience. Oil suits measured daily use, flower suits occasional consumption, and cosmetics a purely topical use.

What is the best CBD? A guide to suit your needs

CBD oil: the most flexible format

CBD oil, diluted in a carrier vegetable oil (MCT, hemp, olive), allows precise dosing thanks to the dropper and a straightforward sublingual intake. It is often the format recommended for beginners, because it makes it easy to adjust the quantity consumed gradually. For concrete markers, see our article on how much CBD to take and our getting-started guide for beginners.

Flowers and resins: a more sensory use

CBD flowers and resins appeal for their aromatic profile and their consumption ritual, in an infusion or vaporised. They do, however, call for particular vigilance about freshness and storage, since the volatile terpenes fade over time. Their dosing is also less precise than that of an oil, which makes them less suited to standardised daily use.

Capsules and softgels: the simplest format

Capsules offer a fixed dose per unit, with no handling and no pronounced taste, which makes them a practical format for a regular routine. Their main drawback is the absence of fine adjustment: it is impossible to fine-tune the dose as you can with an oil in drops.

CBD cosmetics: an exclusively topical use

CBD creams, balms and massage oils are formulated for use on the skin, with no systemic passage comparable to an oral intake. They belong to a skincare routine, unconnected with the effects sought through oral consumption or inhalation.

The criterion common to every format: the certificate of analysis

Whatever format is chosen, the quality benchmark stays the same: an independent, up-to-date certificate of analysis stating a THC content at or below 0.30% in the finished product, in line with the Conseil d'État decision of 29 December 2022 (no. 444887). No format escapes this requirement — not oils, not flowers, not cosmetics.

Frequently asked questions

Which format should I choose to start with?

CBD oil is generally recommended for beginners, because it allows the dose to be adjusted gradually thanks to the dropper, unlike fixed-dose formats.

Do CBD cosmetics have the same effect as ingested oil?

No. Cosmetics act on the skin only, with no passage comparable to an oral intake. Their use belongs to a skincare routine, not to CBD consumption in the broad sense.

Is price a good indicator of quality?

Not necessarily. Price reflects variable production and distribution costs. The certificate of analysis for the specific batch remains the most reliable benchmark, whatever the price displayed.

Can several CBD formats be combined?

Nothing prohibits it legally, but it is preferable to know the total content consumed over the day, all formats taken together, in order to stay within reasonable markers of use.
