CBD omelette: the recipe and the right habits
Par The Phytogrammes team ·
A CBD omelette is made by adding an already-measured CBD oil after cooking, rather than by mixing raw flower into the beaten eggs. CBD is sensitive to heat: direct, prolonged cooking degrades part of the molecule, which reduces the point of adding it.

The basic ingredients
For a classic two-egg omelette, all you need is a little salt and pepper, a knob of butter or a dash of oil for cooking, and a few drops of CBD oil dosed according to the percentage stated on the bottle. Fresh herbs (chives, parsley) or vegetables cooked beforehand (mushrooms, spinach) can round out the recipe to taste, with no bearing on the CBD itself.
Why add the oil after cooking
CBD begins to degrade significantly above 160-180 °C, a temperature easily reached in a hot pan. Pouring CBD oil straight into the eggs before cooking therefore exposes the molecule to excessive heat for several minutes, which reduces the amount actually consumed compared with the amount measured out at the start.
The most reliable method is to cook the omelette normally, then add the CBD oil when plating up, once the omelette is served and the temperature has come back down. Being fat-soluble, CBD blends easily into the rich texture of the omelette without changing its taste much, provided the carrier oil is neutral, such as an MCT oil.
Measuring the CBD oil correctly
The dose depends on the concentration of the bottle used, expressed as a percentage or in milligrams per millilitre, information that must appear on the label and the certificate of analysis. It is better to start with a small quantity, a few drops, and adjust gradually from one meal to the next according to individual sensitivity. Our article on how much CBD to take sets out general reference points for an adult.
Using flower rather than oil
To work in a CBD flower rather than a ready-made oil, a prior decarboxylation step is essential: without it, the raw flower mainly provides CBDA, the precursor form of CBD, which is barely active as it stands. Our guide to decarboxylation methods sets out the oven method, the best suited to home use, before infusing the decarboxylated material into a fat that can be used in cooking.
Frequently asked questions
Can a CBD flower be cooked straight into the omelette?
That is not recommended without prior decarboxylation: raw flower mainly contains CBDA, which is barely active, and direct cooking degrades part of the CBD once it has formed.
How many drops of CBD oil should be added to an omelette for two?
That depends entirely on the concentration of the bottle and on each person's sensitivity. It is better to start with a small quantity and adjust gradually than to set a universal number of drops.
Does CBD oil change the taste of the omelette?
A neutral carrier oil, such as MCT oil, changes the taste very little. A culinary hemp oil or an olive oil, on the other hand, brings a more pronounced vegetal note.
Can this omelette be made for the whole family?
CBD is not recommended for children or for pregnant or breastfeeding women without medical advice. It is better to reserve the addition of CBD oil for the portions intended for the adults concerned.
