Pharmacology

FAB-144 is an indazol-3-yl methanone, the indazole analogue of XLR-11 and the 5-fluoropentyl analogue of UR-144, and an agonist of the CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid receptors. Hess et al. (2016) describe an affinity slightly higher than that of UR-144 at both receptors, almost identical to that of XLR-11; the numerical values are given in their Table 1. The authors do not place it among the agonists with lower efficacy than THC. No human study, and no pharmacokinetic, metabolic or toxicological data specific to this molecule, has been identified, and no therapeutic use is established.

History

Source
Entirely synthetic molecule, absent from cannabis. It is the indazole analogue of XLR-11 and the 5-fluoropentyl analogue of UR-144 (Hess et al., 2016): the indole of the skeleton is replaced by an indazole.

Origin (pharmaceutical research → illicit market)

No biosynthetic pathway: FAB-144 is a synthetic compound, unrelated to the terpenophenols of hemp. It belongs to the class of indazole ketones, obtained by organic synthesis, described here by chemical class only.
