Cali plate
A "cali plate" is a slab of hash presented Californian-style: careful packaging, a strain name, brand aesthetics. The term describes a marketing format, not a manufacturing method.
The expression comes from resale networks, which imported the visual codes of the Californian market — regular slabs, printed pouches, American cultivar names — to dress up products whose origin and composition remain unverifiable. A cali plate may cover excellent hash or an adulterated product: the packaging only tells you about the designer's skill.
This is precisely the textbook case that justifies asking for a certificate of analysis. A slab sold without a viewable batch analysis lets you verify neither the dominant cannabinoid, nor the THC content, nor the absence of sprayed synthetic cannabinoids — a documented fraud on the French parallel market.
On the legal market, the same demand applies in reverse: serious CBD hash publishes its HPLC analysis batch by batch, and its appearance matters less than the Δ⁹-THC line on its certificate.
