Static sift

Static sift is dry sieving assisted by static electricity: trichome heads cling to a charged surface while the rest falls away. The result is a very pure powder obtained without water or freezing.

The method starts from classic dry sift and adds an invisible sorting agent: a static charge, generated by rubbing a plate or card, which selectively attracts trichome heads — lighter and richer in resin than plant debris. Repeated patiently, the gesture separates a fraction that even fine screens would leave mixed.

It is slow work with very low yield, reserved for small batches: where an ice-water machine processes kilos, static sift is counted in grams per hour. Its reward is remarkable purity obtained dry, without any contact with water, and therefore without risk to water-soluble terpenes.
