In plain terms
CBC does not get you high. It acts mainly on the pain and heat channels (TRP), which explains its analgesic effect in synergy with CBD. Present only in trace amounts, and one of the major contributors to the "entourage effect".

Pharmacology
Under-represented in commercial chemotypes but documented as one of the major contributors to the entourage effect. CBC acts mainly through the TRP ion channels - TRPA1 (its main target, and among the most potent phytogenic agonists known) and TRPV1 - which are involved in the perception of pain and heat. It is this TRP profile that explains its analgesic potential in synergy with CBD. There are interesting preclinical studies on hippocampal neurogenesis (Shinjyo & Di Marzo 2013, PMID 23892791) - a mouse model in which CBC promotes the proliferation of adult neural stem cells - and on mood. Its commercial rarity stems from the fact that its acid form (CBCA) degrades rapidly in light, requiring drying in darkness and impeccable packaging in order to preserve the percentages stated on the batch sheet.
Biosynthetic pathway
Derived from CBCA (cannabichromenic acid) via CBCA synthase, starting from CBGA
