Pharmacology

FUBIMINA, also designated BIM-2201, is a synthetic cannabinoid of the benzimidazole class, a fluoro derivative of BIM-018 and an isomer of THJ-2201. Schoeder et al. (2018) measure an affinity of 502 nM at CB1 and of 99.0 nM at CB2. Wiley et al. (2015) describe it as a full agonist in the [35S]GTPγS assay and report, in mice, reduced locomotor activity, antinociception, hypothermia and catalepsy. Schoeder et al. observe only a partial activation of both receptors at 10 µM. First detected in 2013, it is expressly listed among the narcotics in France. No human data are published in the sources consulted.

History

Source
Entirely synthetic molecule. It was first detected in 2013 in herbal-type products bought online, according to Diao et al. (2016), who cite Uchiyama et al. It is easily accessible online and is designated by several names: FUBIMINA, BIM-2201, BZ-2201 and FTHJ. Scheduled in Japan since August 2014 (Diao et al., 2016), it is the isomer of THJ-2201, from which it is distinguished by mass spectrometry.

Origin (pharmaceutical research → illicit market)

No biosynthetic pathway: FUBIMINA does not derive from hemp. It is a synthetic cannabinoid, obtained by laboratory chemistry, of the acylated benzimidazole class, unrelated to the terpenophenols of the plant.
