WPFF
WPFF stands for whole plant fresh frozen: the entire plant is frozen immediately after harvest, without drying, to preserve volatile terpenes before the resin is separated.
In a classic workflow, the plant is dried then cured for weeks before any separation: part of the monoterpenes, the most volatile aromatic compounds, evaporate during that phase. The WPFF protocol short-circuits that loss: the whole plant is frozen within minutes or hours of the cut, then worked frozen, usually by ice-water separation.
The result announces itself to the nose before the eye: hash made from fresh-frozen material keeps an aromatic fraction that dried material has already lost. It is the raw material behind so-called frozen hash and piattella, and the reason those presentations dominate the top of the market today.
The term describes a state of the raw material, not a quality in itself: a badly separated WPFF is still mediocre hash. What can be verified is the batch analysis — measured cannabinoids and Δ⁹-THC below 0.30% for a product to be legal in France.
