CBD hash prices: making sense of the price per gram

1.1 The separation method

A resin gathers the trichomes of the flower, separated mechanically then pressed. Three families of method sit side by side at Hashs & Extracts: separation in iced water (ice-o-lator, bubble hash, frozen hash), dry sifting (dry sift, pollen, static) and cold curing over several weeks (piatella). A long curing period ties up both the material and the room; washing in iced water calls for ice, filtered water and slow drying. Those costs show up in the advertised price: the Piatella opens at €9.95 a gram while the 120u opens at €7.95.

1.2 The stated mesh

The markings 45u, 90u and 120u name the sieve mesh in microns. The 120u glossary entry notes that a mature trichome head measures roughly between 70 and 120 microns, and that the scale of bags runs from 220u down to 25u. Below 45 microns, the fraction fills up with immature heads, trichome stalks and dust; above 160, plant debris passes through with the resin. The mesh tells you about the selectivity of the sort, not about the content: that is read on the batch analysis.

1.3 The yield

This is the least visible factor and often the most decisive. A wash does not produce a single fraction: the suspension passes through several stacked bags, from the widest to the narrowest, and each bag holds back a fraction weighed separately. The narrower the window kept, the fewer saleable grams remain for the same amount of starting flower, while the cost of the raw material does not move. A selective sort therefore makes a dearer gram, without that saying anything about the final level.

1.4 The quantity tier

The last factor is the only one the buyer controls. These eight resins are sold by the gram, across six tiers: 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 g. The 120u grid shows the slope: €7.95 a gram at 2 g, €6.18 at 5 g, €4.99 at 10 g, €3.80 at 20 g, €2.80 at 50 g, €1.90 at 100 g. The discounts are worked out from the 2 g price, and the gap between the first and last tier reaches 76 % across the four grids observed here. Comparing an entry price at 2 g with a bulk price at 100 g therefore makes no sense at all.

The table takes up the figures published on each page: CBD level measured by HPLC, batch analysed, price per gram at the first and last tier, and cost per gram of CBD at 100 g.

Two readings come out of that table. First, the spread of the gram of material at 100 g is small: from €1.90 to €2.38, a quarter of a gap. Second, the ranking by price of material and the ranking by gram of cannabinoid do not coincide. The Piatella is the dearest per gram across all six tiers, and yet it is neither the dearest nor the cheapest per gram of CBD. Across the whole family, fifteen references, the gram at 100 g runs from €1.19 to €2.38 on the pages whose grid is published.

The division is always the same: price per gram of material divided by the level of the batch expressed as a fraction. It can be redone on any offer, provided the level is attached to a batch.

At the 2 g tier, the Frozen Hash costs €8.95 a gram and contains 15.0 %: 8.95 ÷ 0.150 = €59.7 per gram of CBD. The Piatella costs €9.95 a gram, one euro more, and contains 18.0 %: 9.95 ÷ 0.180 = €55.3. The reference that is dearest per gram of material therefore works out €4.4 cheaper per gram of cannabinoid. The 120u, at €7.95 and 15.9 %, comes down to €50.0.

At the 100 g tier, the same division gives 2.14 ÷ 0.150 = €14.3 for the Frozen Hash, 2.38 ÷ 0.180 = €13.2 for the Piatella and 1.90 ÷ 0.159 = €11.9 for the 120u. The gap between the two tiers comes from volume, not from the quality of the batch.

Three precautions make that division honest. The level has to come from the batch on sale, not from a range-wide average. Both offers have to be taken at the same tier, otherwise the sliding grid distorts everything. And postage counts separately, since it weighs heavily on 2 g and almost nothing on 100 g. An advertised level is not a property of the variety: it is a measurement, made on a given day, on a given quantity, by a given method. Without those three elements, the figure compares to nothing.

On the laboratory pages, each resin carries a batch number, a date of analysis and the method used. Batch PG-26-A7E3 of the 120u was analysed on 12 June 2026, batch PG-26-F1E2 of the Piatella on 17 June, batch PG-26-AA10 of the Frozen Hash on 3 June. Cannabinoids are quantified by HPLC, terpenes by GC-MS, heavy metals by ICP-MS and pesticides by LC-MS/MS, in a third-party laboratory accredited to ISO/IEC 17025. The batch summary goes to the second decimal place: 15.86 % for the 120u, 18.01 % for the Piatella, 15.04 % for the Frozen Hash, rounded to 15.9 %, 18.0 % and 15.0 %. That rounding gap is normal; a missing batch number is not.

Three questions are therefore enough when faced with an advertised level. Which batch? Which date? Which method? If the answer is missing, the division above cannot be set up. The regulatory threshold follows the same logic: Δ⁹-THC has to stay below 0.30 %, and that is established on an analysis. The batches quoted sit between 0.16 % and 0.23 %.

There is no price survey of competing shops here. The subject would have deserved a dated panel, built on a published method, with the same tiers and the same processes compared from one retailer to another. That survey was not carried out, and no competitor figure is quoted here.

Nor is there any price tracking over time. The figures in the table are those of 16 September 2026: a grid can change, and the product page prevails.

Finally, no numerical yield is published by method or by mesh: the mechanism described in 1.3 is real, but we have not measured it on these batches. Questions of method can be asked from the frequently asked questions page or read on our about page.
